bere:architects’ redesign of Tower Gateway DLR Station entrance was intended to regenerate the facilities and reduce crime and antisocial behaviour. The site was a derelict piece of land between a busy road and the elevated railway line.
The design introduced a new staircase from street level up to the platform with improved lighting, signage and street-level paving. The main structural element was the use of vertical gabion walls.
